"Näcken" is a modern take on classic swedish folklore. When at a remote house with her father (who is also her violin mentor), Margit hears mystical sounds emerging from the forest nearby. Following the sounds she meets a mysterious young man, half naked sitting by a river at dawn. As the relationship with her father becomes more and more intense she befriends the young man, and a plot to rid her of her possessive father begins to unravel.
